“Sacrificial Piety in a world of manipulative persuasiveness and cowardly popularity”.

In William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar there is a scene in Act 2 between Caesar and his wife Calpurnia. Calpurnia has a premonition that Caesar’s life is in danger and expresses her fear to him.  In response Caesar says:

"Cowards die many times before their deaths;
The valiant never taste of death but once"

Truth Seekers

Mark 6 makes it very clear that we have choices to make when it comes to how we will respond to Jesus Christ. As we look carefully at Mark 6 you will notice something that is a repeated pattern in how people respond to Jesus. At first they are amazed, enamoured and can’t get enough of what he is saying. But how quickly their attitudes change as three verses from this passage vividly illustrate.

A business executive became depressed. Things were not going well at work, and he was bringing his problems home with him every night. Every evening he would eat his dinner in silence, shutting out his wife and five-year-old daughter.
