Cell Groups

Home cell groups at Grace Anglican are modeled after the practice of the ancient New Testament church. The Church of the first few centuries, of necessity, met in individual homes limited by the size of the dwelling and therefore were relatively small gatherings. In any given city there may have been multiple such meeting centres, thus creating a city wide church. Hence, in the New Testament, one can read about the church meeting at so and so's house as well as references to the Church of such and such city.

While today’s Church is no longer confined to small cell groups by necessity due to space, the model of the home cell group continues to be a vibrant and much needed partner to the Sunday celebration with which we are most familiar.

At Grace Anglican our home cell groups encourage face to face meetings of anywhere from 5 to 15 members. These meetings are not primarily pastoral in nature, neither are they Bible studies per se lthough both activities may very well take place. Rather, they are designed to be gatherings where worship, the application of Bible truth, mutual ministry, and the reaching out to one’s network of family, friends and acquaintances may take place. They become centres of mission and evangelism, discipleship, pastoral care, deep and lasting fellowship, and ministry clinics, but they are also designed to grow to a point of multiplication so that no cell becomes static, insulated or resistant to outreach.

Cell home groups, in effect, do what is much more difficult if the same were attempted in the larger Sunday celebration. The Christian life experienced in the home cell groups becomes the primary resource for the Sunday celebration.

Cell groups may meet at anytime during the week and are intergenerational in makeup. If you are interested in knowing more about home cell groups at Grace Anglican, please click the link below.
